Butcher Billy Edition • Season Four
From the moment I saw this artwork, I totally fell in love. Every single poster is such a masterpiece. I would never be able to create something this perfect. What I am capable of though, is extending already existing artwork! Below you can find the art of Butcher Billy, transformed into landscape posters, aka title cards!

Chapter One:
The Hellfire Club
This poster art by Butcher Billy is the very first poster I turned into a landscape title card. Looking back, it was perfect to start with this project as it's not too difficult and there were no additional illustrations I had to draw. The hardest part was starting from scratch, looking for the right textures, pattern, or even trying to recreate them myself. This title card really was the basis of all the next cards.
Chapter Two:
Vecna's Curse
The poster for Vecna's Curse is just so beautiful! I love the warm tones, the fire, and Vecna inside the glasses of Fred Benson. I was lucky to find a rather close image illustration of the fire which I used to extend the image. The free brushes of True Grit really came in handy and brought this title card to a whole new level. The first iteration had way more pure black at the bottom, but the end product feels way more coherent.

Chapter Three:
The Monster and the Superhero
I love the unique wrinkled paper design of this one. This is the first title card to use cracks in the background. Fun fact, almost every title card that has cracks uses the same image overlay! It's a such a versatile overlay, I just masked some parts away and rotate it so it's not obvious. I only add cracks if Butcher Billy's original art has them. I take some creative freedom, but I also want to stay as close to the original as possible.
Chapter Four:
Dear Billy
By far my favorite episode of this season. Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush is so perfect for the scene! For the title card, this was the first one where I had to draw a few extra things. It wasn't that hard, just had to extend the hair a bit to fit the frame. In the beginning, I had Max flipped just like in the original art, but for this landscape orientation, her looking to the left feels way more natural.
Chapter Five:
The Nina Project
Now here is where it became increasingly more difficult to extend the images. Extending El's arms wasn't the hard part, it was the rainbow background that gave me a really hard time. Not only do the stripes get wide, it had to look like they really came closer as well. Using some great dotted patterns, I could make them bigger the closer to the left of the image. This card really only was the beginning to the new difficulty...
Chapter Six:
The Dive
The Dive... What an absolutely gorgeous piece of art this one is. The episode as well, but I'm talking about Butcher Billy's poster of course! The colors, the waves, the darkness, the paper creases coming out the gate, it's perfect! This is by far my favorite, but man, the time it took for this one to complete! I learned to draw on my iPad for this, hand drawing all the waves and tentacles. I'm so proud of this one though!

Chapter Seven:
The Massacre at Hawkings Lab
After The Dive's title card, this one felt like a walk in the park. I just had to complete a few Demogorgon nails and find and make a similar texture of the black lines in the background. I redid this one a few time, as it felt way too empty on the left side. Playing with the lighting and the grain did help a lot. Still feels a bit more empty than the other ones, but I think it suits this scene.

Chapter Eight:
Papa
Glad I learned how to draw on an iPad, cause it came very much in handy with this one. So many little details that needed to be added: the smoke, the fire, the blood, the tentacles,... That last one took the longest time, as I wanted them to look unique and not too perfect. Not perfectly curved, not too clean looking. But what really finished this title card are the rips in the paper. That's what makes this title card so unique!

Chapter Nine:
The Piggyback
This episode! WOW! Chills! And with an epic episode comes an epic Butcher Billy poster! Eddy front and center playing Master of Puppets, it's perfect! For me, this was also a great title card to end with, as it isn't as hard as some of the previous ones. I love the upside down bats flying in from everywhere, they really bring this whole title card together. And with that, the fourth season of Stranger Things is complete!

Borderless Butcher Billy Edition
The original art has borders which really suit the art style, especially when the characters jumps out of that frame. Though I wanted to create a borderless variant as well, where I also removed the Netflix logo and the Stranger Things 4 logo to make it look even more clean. This is actually the style I use for my library!
